This
week, I had a chance to hang out with my pal, Amy, and talk about
the benign anarchy of Alcoholics Anonymous. We talk about the
beauty and allure of voluntary association, why coercion doesn’t
help addicts recover, why seeing addiction as an “individual
failing” rather than a systemic healthcare issue is facile and
vacuous, and levy a whole bunch of critiques at the organization
for its regressive attitudes and white supremacy.
